German Awards - Service Award 1. Stage of the Red Cross Thuringian Land Association
This award was established in 1922 by the Thuringian Red Cross Land Union. This badge of honor was awarded as the lowest step after 10 years of well-deserved work in the Thuringian Land Union. Concurrent with the 1 shown here. The stage also became the 2nd and 3rd. Stage donated. They were awarded in the form of white enameled crosses as used by other national clubs. The 2nd tier is silver burgundy with a laid silver laurel wreath and silver font in the medallion and was awarded after 30 years of activity. The 3rd stage is gilded with the same design and was awarded after 40 years. The maker of the award was R. Conrad of Weimar. Other provincial associations have established similar honorary badges. They also wear numbers on a laurel wreath for years of service (such as the Prussian Land Union). Thuringia and other provincial clubs were limited to distinguish by various bordings of cruciform arms and medallion, silver-plated or gilded. The Red Cross Thuringian Land Association was founded after the formation of the Free State of Thuringia on August 12, 1920. The existing 26 land societies merged in 25.01.1921 in Bamberg into the German Red Cross, together with headquarters in Berlin.
High oval medal made of silver-plated non-ferrous metal. The front side is embossed and partially enameled. The back is smooth and silver-plated. Stamping is done by the manufacturer, in the center or bottom of the back panel. On top is a soldered, ordinary eye with a ribbon ring.
Front side:
- Along a slightly raised edge that goes around the pearl cord (dots) inside.
- Then - a wreath of 2 oak branches with fruits opened from above.
- Below it is tied in a loop and consists of 6 groups of leaves each.
- Between individual groups of leaves are 2 acorns, 10 on each side.
In the - center of the closed field is a red enameled Geneva cross with a translucent perpendicular hatch.
- Between the cross and the oak wreath is a strongly curved, elevated, ancient writing: - door. –
