The Iron Cross Order of 1870 was instituted on 4 June 1915 by decree of King and Emperor William II. donated. This rarest clasp was awarded to participants of the 1st World War, already awarded the Iron Cross 1870-1871 2nd class during the war, as well as especially distinguished themselves at the front or at home in the 1st World War. The screed bypassed the provision that when re-awarded the Iron Cross, the right to 1st class began to be applied in the subsequent war. 45 years after the war, very few people survived 1870/71 who could receive this award. Replay should also be understood as a special tribute to the veterans of 1870, who, due to age, of course, did not have to perform the same feats as young soldiers in order to receive the award. Except for Iron Cross 1. No class has been assigned. A clasp over oak foliage was worn from 25 to 1895. Specimens are always silver. It is attached either with a through tab or cotter pins on the tape. A horizontal needle brochure is also possible. The iron cross measures from 12.0 mm to 12.5 mm. With and without manufacturer designation. The only producer of souvenirs was John. Wagner and Son, Berlin. Source: Frank Wernitz, Iron Cross 1813-1870-1914, 2013.
