This order was created by the widow of Elector Max III. Joseph, Maria Anna, was established on September 19, 1783. The order served to encourage the daughters of the Bavarian Catholic nobility. Applicants for the order had to pass a test of ancestors from 16 parts. This happened after Elector Max IV came to power. In 1802 it was canceled. The pen was under the direction of the abbess and dehantine. Initially, the fund was 220,000 guilders. 18 minters received 1000 guilders (10 women) or 500 guilders (8 women) per year. Munich Abbey was founded first. Würzburg Abbey was erected back in 1714 by Prince Bishop Johann Philip von Greifenklau. After the capture of the Principality of Würzburg by Bavaria in 1803, Würzburg Abbey was connected to Munich Abbey. After a brief period of independence from 1807 to 1814 in the Grand Duchy of Würzburg, the abbey re-united with Munich Abbey. Crosses vary in design and motto. The cross presented here refers to the Munich pen. On official occasions, the cross was worn in a sling. The college cross was subject to return. Awards listed 259. In 1910, 14 college ladies were 1. Golden anchor cross. Cross arms with wide, golden-border, blue enameled edges. The inner sides are covered with white enamel. Between the cross sleeves are small gold discs with superimposed white enamel balls. Front and rear large round enameled central shield. On the upper cruciform shoulder there is a parallel soldered, turf ear with a ribbon ring.
