The Silver Medal of Merit was changed on September 30, 1866 for the 4th time. Also known under the Medal of Civil Merit, they were awarded for loyal services and special merits worthy of recognition. For the manufacture of facades, the court fashion designer Christian Schnitzspan (1790-1877) was hired. The seal was completed in 1868. The reverse comes from the Kachel coin board and was completed before that. A portrait of the head shows Friedrich looking left with a strong beard. In the 4th version, a male cutter is engraved under the neck. In a later version of 1881-1908, it is absent. During the wars of 1866, 1870/71 and the battles in 1902 and 1905, the medal was also awarded the Friedrich Medal for military merit.
