The Order of the Crown of the Rhombus was established under Napoleonic rule on July 20, 1807 by King Frederick Augustus III. donated. After Napoleon received royal dignity, it became necessary to establish an order that was supposed to connect prominent personalities with the ruling house of Wettin. Initially, it was limited to 24 knights, but soon exceptions were made for members of the ruling houses and persons who contributed to the honor and prestige of the order. Entry into the Order was subject exclusively to the oath and oath of the king. Members of the ruling houses were exempted from this. The order was subject to return after death. The order has always come first. The order was awarded only 332 times in the entire 111-year history. The order included an order cross, as well as a breast star. The documents are unknown. Until 1840, chest stars were embroidered on a gold plate with a motto. Since 1840, the first metal stars became known. The first stars were very flat and didn't look as massive. The first manufacturers were Schnitzspahn from Darmstadt, the court jeweler of the Grand Duke of Hesse-Darmstadt, and from 1855 Hossauer from Berlin, the court jeweler of the Prussian kings. The size was approximately 85 mm, and the weight ranged from 50 to 51.3 g. Since 1896, Scharffenberg from Dresden took over production. The stellar body is cast. Separately laid out gold medallion and jewelry plate with the manufacturer. The stars are slightly bigger and heavier. Diamond stars were produced by other manufacturers. The stars of Martin Guillaume Bienne - Paris, Johann Erich Rosenthal - Berlin, Karl Busch - Hanover and Rota & Nephew - Vienna are known.
An eight-pointed star made of silver with smooth rounded rays. The 8 main rays are elongated. There are 4 intermediate beams between them, graduated to the center. There are 40 rays. From the sides, the rays are bordered by shorter strokes. On the front side in the center there is a large round, gold and partially enameled medallion (36 mm).
