The princely house order of Hohenzollern was established jointly by princes Konstantin Hohenzollern Hechingen and Karl Anton Hohenzollern Sigmaringen. The order initially consisted of 4 classes, an honorary cross of the 1st degree. class, 2 classes, as well as a gold medal of honor and a silver medal "For Merit." In 1844, the honorary cross of the 3rd class was added. 3rd class was awarded to senior officials mainly for long and faithful service. Servicemen were awarded from captain by demotion to prime lieutenant. Awards for science, art and merit in the church are also known. Since 1852, the order was reorganized. Various additions were made in subsequent years. In 1866, swords were established for military merit. In 1891, the honorary Komtursky Cross was attached to it, in 1910 - the Golden and Silver Cross for Merit. In 1910, the 3rd grade was granted a crown. Silver cross. The cruciform shoulders are finely ornamented without enamel. Lying inside on cruciform arms at a distance from the edge is a wide, black enameled strip with silver edges. Crosspiece ends are rounded outwards. Front and back with round middle shields worn. Between the cruciform shoulders around the circumference is a green enameled and silver burgundy wreath of right oak foliage and left laurel foliage. (Front) On the upper cruciform shoulder is a soldered ordinary eye with a ribbon ring.
