Two rulers of the princely houses Leopold III. von Lippe-Detmold and Adolf I Georg von Schaumburg-Lippe established the Order of the Common House on October 25, 1869. It originally consisted of 3 classes and 2 merit medals. The ruling princes wore a special size in the form of a large cross with a crown and laurel leaves, as well as a chest star. Crosses of the 1st form had small golden balls on the tops of the crosses. Grand Cross and 1. The class was also awarded swords through the center or swords on the ring (1st class). In 1887, the statutes were changed and the 4th class was introduced, as well as swords for military merit and oak leaves for especially outstanding merit. The new shape of the crosses no longer had small balls on the tops of the crosses. The new classes as of 1887 were: 1st class (old 1st. class with crown), 2nd class (old 1st. class), class 2 with oak leaves, class 3 (old 2. class) and 4th grade (old 3rd. class in silver). In 1890, the Schaumburg-Lippe line established a separate order. The Lippe-Detmold line retained the originally common order, but changed the shiffre on the reverse from - LA - for Leopold and Adolf to - L - for Leopold. The number of awards is extremely small due to the short term of the award. The manufacturer of the crosses was the court jeweler Karl Busch Hanover.
