These service awards were donated by the Crown Prince and co-ruler Friedrich Wilhelm on behalf of his father, Elector Wilhelm II. Soldiers were to be awarded from the sergeant major downward for faithful and well-performed service in the Elector's troops. The award was presented in 3 stages, over 20 years, 15 years and 10 years of faithful service. All crosses are made of dark oxidized bronze and differ only in the number of years on the upper cross sleeve. All servicemen who, with the publication of the charters, were part of the existing army corps, including the Swiss Life Guards, and with the exception of the reserve, garrison troops, the corps of disabled people, the gendarmerie and the military administration, were eligible for admission. But this is only if they were listed or listed in the ranks of the militants. War years, when accounting for years of service, were counted twice. When reaching the next higher level, it was necessary to lower the lower one. Retired servicemen were allowed to continue wearing the service award. At the end of the service, the award was to be returned to the regiment. The award ceremony took place annually on August 20. The list of Belionians was kept by the regiments and the corps, respectively. These service awards are extremely rare. Source: Jörg Nemmergut "German Orders and Insignia until 1945" Volume 1, 1999.
