Persons without a special title were awarded for excellent merit, commendable deeds and exceptional achievements. Various advantages differ in the inscription on the reverse. Under Louis III, the following inscriptions were preserved. known: - FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE - 1849 to 1889, - FOR BRAVERY - 1866 and 1870/71, - FOR SERVICES - from 1849 to 1889, - FOR MANY YEARS OF FAITHFUL SERVICE - from 1849 to 1869, - FOR MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE - from 1869 to 1889, - FOR FIFTY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE - from 1849 to 1889, - FOR SAVING FROM MORTAL DANGER - from 1849 to 1889, - FOR MERITS IN EXTINGUISHING - since 1854 and the medal shown here - FOR SAVING HUMAN LIVES - from 1849 to 1889. Early medals are slightly thicker and heavier than later ones without a bearer name. The inscription - FOR MANY YEARS OF FAITHFUL SERVICE - was granted until 1869, and after that it was replaced by the inscription - FOR MANY YEARS OF FAITHFUL SERVICE. The coin was minted by medalist Karl Friedrich Voigt, who worked at the Munich Royal Mint. Medals for many years or many years of faithful service could be awarded on the ribbon of the Order of Philip. Two medals for saving...
