This medal was established as an award of the Kingdom of Italy by Duke Benito Mussolini during the African Campaign. However, the announcement of the award of the medal was made only on January 7, 1943 by the commander of the VII regiment. Army Corps Giovanni Magli, signed in Corsica. As this medal was also awarded to allied German soldiers, it is taken into account here. On October 13, 1943, Italy declared war on Germany and banned its further wearing. The author of the medal was Roberto de Marchi. Medals were made in Italy in 2 versions and silver plated. There is no doubt about this issue, since we are talking about one of the most prestigious awards. Silver medals are increasingly appearing at air bases. Despite the short award period, there are many different plays. Medals were made of non-ferrous and military metal, each of which was silver plated or bronzed. There are medals with and without the manufacturer either on the right or left around the rim. The shape of the towers can also vary. The most famous manufacturer was M. Lorioli & Söhne in Milan.
