For exceptional courage during the hostilities, which was not enough to be awarded the Knight's Cross or the German Cross in gold, from January 30, 1941 they were awarded honorary bandages in Herre, and from February 23, 1943 - in the Kriegsmarine. The Luftwaffe followed only on July 5, 1944 with the introduction of the German Air Force Certificate of Honor. The Luftwaffe previously had a separate "honorary list of German Luftwaffe." There were all the cavaliers of the German Cross, the Honorary Cup for special merits in the air war, the Honorary Shell for outstanding military achievements, as well as the owners of a silver frame depicting Reichsmarschall Goering. Goering's private awards continued to be presented until December 10, 1944. After the end of the award in January 1945, there was a rapprochement between the army and navy. Award data is unknown.
Posthumous presentation of the bandage or presentation to the relatives of the victims was not desirable, but was carried out in separate cases. Notable manufacturers were Otto Klein of Hanau and Juncker of Berlin.
