Knight's Cross 1. The class with a crown and swords with blue enameled cross-shaped hands is a very rare form of knightly crosses issued by the Union of Saxon front-line soldiers in the German Union of Warriors 1914/18 AD e. This union established many different military honorary crosses, knightly crosses and medals. They were awarded as crosses (1st class) or as ribbon decoration (2nd and 3rd class). They were mostly with white enameled cruciform arms. However, some crosses had green enameled crosses of a different design. The cross depicted here with blue cross-shaped sleeves is the only known form with blue enamel. Color selection criteria are still unknown. Green and blue crosses are much less common.
These commemorative crosses were issued after World War I by many Warrior Union unions. After the 1st World War, there was no state award in memory of the war. Thus, the Allied forces of the lands often created very attractive commemorative crosses and even knight's crosses for soldiers who participated in the war. He was awarded swords, as a rule, to front-line soldiers. 1st grade or honorary knightly crosses were most often awarded to honored members of society. Possession of the Iron Cross 1 was often considered a prerequisite. class or other high military decoration.
Although these crosses were issued by the Union of National Warriors, they had to be paid for by the bearer himself.
Gilded oblong cross made of non-ferrous metal with light blue enameled cross sleeves. 2 gilded swords pass through the center. In the center is a round gilded shield. Attached to the upper cross is a large gilded crown, which enamels red gaps.
Front side:
- Central shield with a wide white enameled writing ring.
- It bears the golden inscription: - PROVIDENTIAE - MEMOR - (mindful of foresight)
- Below are two crossed oak leaves.
In - the surrounded, green enameled middle part is a golden black Saxon coat of arms with a crown.
