The Fire Service Cross of Honour was established by the Westphalian Fire Union in 1925. The exact requirements for the institution and award are unknown. But it can be assumed that, as with other fire unions, both firefighters and non-firefighters who received outstanding service in extinguishing a fire in the union were awarded. Presentation usually took place with a diploma/diploma. Westphalen was a Prussian province from 1815 after the Congress of Vienna and later part of the Free State of Prussia. The Provincial Fire Association was founded in Westfalen on 31 July 1891 in Dortmund. The chairman of the board was the fire director Werfirth from Munster. The union was dissolved on 18 March 1934 in Münster. Under the National Socialists, the Fire Extinguishing Act was passed on November 23, 1938, and entered into force on November 27, 1939. Thus, unification was carried out in the field of fire protection. After the World War, the Association was re-established as part of Norsrhein-Westfalen. The badge of honor is extremely rare. Award data is unknown.
