SS service awards were also established on January 30, 1938 for the 5th anniversary of the rise to power of the National Socialists by Reich Chancellor Adolf Hitler. All SS formations, Dead Head formations and SS cadet schools were to be awarded. On October 21, 1938, the order established the appearance of the service award. The author of the project is Professor Karl Dibich from Munich. The award consisted of 4 stages. Level 1 was awarded after 25 years of service, Level 2 after 12, Level 3 after 8, and Level 4 after 4 years of loyal service. Periods in the Wehrmacht, land police and periods in previously recognized volunteer formations (Freikorps) were also used to calculate the service life. Since 1940, this provision has been repealed. 1 and 2. Tiers - crosses in the form of a swastika measuring 37 x 37 mm, gilded or silver-plated, respectively. 3rd and 4th.
