The badge for air traffic controllers on motorized aircraft was established on July 12, 1938 by the corps führer of the NSFK (National Socialist Air Corps), General Christiansen. The aircraft commander's badge was awarded and issued respectively in 3 forms. The 1st form was an embroidered badge and depicts an aircraft engine rising to the left with a propeller on an oak deciduous wreath. At the bottom, it ends with the symbol of the NSFK (a winged man with outstretched arms, below on the legs of a swastika, above a bow with the inscription NSFK). The 2nd form is a metal sign made in the same design, usually a hollow relief. On the back on the wing of the aircraft is -GES.GES.- including the number -22639.- Shown here is 3. The form depicts an eagle on a wreath. NSFC members with a valid driver's license and a national sports ticket for drivers were eligible for transportation. These badges are very rare, as wider training of members was done on gliders. The exact time of changing individual forms has not been established.
The National Socialist Aviation Corps (NSFK) was created by decree of the Führer on April 17, 1937. NSFK is considered the successor of DLV e. V. German Air Sports Union and was a public law body and reported directly to the Imperial Minister of Aviation Hermann Goering. Funds were taken from the budget of the Imperial Air Ministry, and all objects and buildings were the property of the Reich. As a paramilitary organization, the NSFC was responsible for the training and advanced training of pilots. It was registered by military registration and enlistment offices and, depending on qualifications, was intended for admission to the Luftwaffe.
