The 24 mm NSDAP Gold Badge of Honor depicted here, small in size, was made by Joseph Fuess. He made the first batch of small badges. A jeweller and jeweller from Munich received an order for 50,000, but not all of them were delivered. Whether the reason was too light a brochure (many badges were lost) is unknown to me. After that, Deschler & Sohn was brought into production.
The NSDAP gold badge of honor (also the golden party badge) was established by order of Adolf Hitler on the occasion of November 9, 1933. Those party members with numbers from 1 to 100,000 members who have been members of the party since joining the NSDAP without interruption were eligible for admission. This has been the case since the party's founding on 27 February 1925. The member number was engraved on the back of the badge. Delivery took place using a certificate. The badge of honor was to be claimed. The deadline for applications was to end on May 1, 1935. Known awards until 1945. Since 1937, the Golden Badge of Honor has also been awarded with honors. These included ministers and senior military officials who did not necessarily belong to the NSDAP. In addition, Hitler awarded the badge to persons from Germany and other countries whom he personally considered worthy or whom he appreciated. Very few badges were made of gold. (for example, a private play by Adolf Hitler, Eva Braun and Magda Goebbels) The engravings on the back respectively indicate not a membership number, but usually initiations or dates. The sign was made in large and small versions. The size fluctuates slightly. With a large icon from 30 mm to 30.3 mm. Small icon from 23 mm to 24 mm. The back pamphlet is known as a solder, horizontal pin, or as a vertical needle with reciprocal hooks. Each awardee received a set of large and small badges. The badge was not refundable after death. The exact dates of the award are unknown to me. By 1935, 22,282 pieces were kept in the statistics of the NSDAP.
