Simultaneously with the Order of Merit for the German Eagle, on May 1, 1937, Reich Chancellor Adolf Hitler established the Medal of Merit for Germany. It was also awarded to foreign nationals who earned the respect of the German people. The author of the project is Dr. Ottfried Neubecker from Berlin. The first medals until 1939 had an inscription on the reverse in fractional font. From about 1943, the font was minted in block type, and zinc-bronzed medals were also issued. For military merits, from April 20, 1939, the medal was also awarded with swords. They are crossed and attached to the ring.
Round medal made of bronze or bronze zinc with a border. Above is a soldered ordinary eye with a ribbon ring.
