Duke Ernst II. Established the Civil Service Award on August 31, 1913. Credit should be given to 25 years of loyal and unquestioning service. Court and government officials, clergy and teachers who were still in active service had the right to admission. Pensioners could no longer receive this badge of honor. Awarding took place on offer. Proposals were submitted by the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of State, the Court Chamber, court offices and departments of ministries. The award was non-refundable. Upon return to the Ministry of State, the heirs were reimbursed material value. The public announcement of the award did not take place. Due to the small size of the Duchy of Altenburg, civil service awards are very rare.
High oval, openwork made of silver badge of honor. The edge is formed from an oak deciduous wreath clutched from above with fruits. In the openwork middle part there is an enameled cross with balls on the tops of the crosses. The cross extends with balls at the ends of the cross to an oak wreath. An ordinary eye with a tape ring is soldered on top of the 3-section bracket.
