The silver medal of the Duchy of Saxe-Ernestine Order was awarded in Saxe-Meiningen from 1914 to 1918. The Duke of Berhard, after taking office, read his portrait to the front of the Medal of Merit. The stamps were created by Alois Bursch. The coinage was produced by the Main Royal Bavarian Mint in Munich in December 1914. Without publication in 1914, a 1914 clasp was presented for services in his native region, and a 1914 sword for military services. The "Silver Medal of Merit of the Duke of Saxe-Ernestine of the House" was established jointly by the dukes listed below together with the Order of the House. Duke Bernhard Erich Freund donated them on 25 December 1833 for Saxe-Meiningen. Initially, this medal was awarded only in silver. Only in 1864 silver gilded medals and silver medals began to be awarded. The corresponding medals of the duchies had the image of the ruler of the corresponding duchy. The reverse was the same for all ducal merit medals. Three different medals were issued in Saxe-Meiningen. The 1st form was granted under Duke Bernhard Eric Freund, the 2nd form - under Duke George, and the 3rd and last form - under Duke Bernhard. The silver medal was also made of military metal (zinc) without a stamp cutter. Medals are very rare, especially with clasps. Source: J.
